Full service equine facility: lessons & carriage rides

Rough Terrain Farm is a full service equine facility with an 85x140' indoor arena, attached stalls with boarding for up to nineteen horses, a separate co-op boarding barn, a half-mile race track, and miles of woods trails and country roads for trail riding and carriage driving. The barn is conveniently located five miles from I-89 in Randolph Center, Vermont


Owner Leslie Haynes, a British Horse Society certified riding instructor, has extensive training in Natural Horsemanship, dressage, and carriage driving. She manages a diverse barn that offers private lessons in basic horsemanship, Natural Horsemanship, round penning, long lining, pleasure and competitive carriage driving, dressage, and beginner to advanced English and Western equitation for adults and children (ages 6 and up). Training is also available for horses, ponies and minis.


For visitors to the area, Rough Terrain Farm offers private riding and driving lessons, carriage drives for one other person interested in seeing the countryside at a slower pace, and overnight accommodations for horses.  Note: We do not rent horses for trail rides.


Services Offered:
Riding and Carriage Driving Lessons: $50 per hour, $35 per half hour

Carriage Drives through the Countryside (for up to one person): 1 hour $50, 1.5 hrs $75 (in good weather only, spring-fall) 

Overnight Accommodations for Horses and Ponies (per night):
  • Stall, feed and individual paddock turn-out: $25
  • Stall and individual paddock turnout: $20 (feed not included)
  • Individual paddock turn-out only: $15 (feed not included)

Note: We do not rent horses for trail rides.

Hours available: Call Leslie at 802-279-5945 to make advance arrangements one week to possibly two days out. Carriage drives through the countryside are offered spring through fall in good weather.
