Vermont’s first Open Farm Week will be held Monday, August 3 – Sunday, August 9, 2015.
Farmers across Vermont will throw open their barn doors and garden gates to welcome the public for a behind-the-scenes look at Vermont’s vibrant working landscape, learning more about where food comes from and supporting the local agricultural economy.
As part of Vermont Open Farm Week, our members invite you to attend their special events and tours.
From 4-7pm on Thursday, August 6th, and from 10:30am - 12:30pm on Saturday, August 8th, the Green Mountain Girls Farm invites you to meet their goats, enjoy Lattes on the Hoof and learn how to make Gelato. As part of your Goat Appreciation Package you will have milk foamed directly into your mug, and tour the farm, while sipping on a delicious latte. Then learn how to make & enjoy goat milk gelato. Fat Toad Farm will be offering farmer led tours of their small family farm. You will meet their herd of beautiful (and mischievous) Alpine dairy goats and learn all about their life on the farm. In the milking parlor, you'll see where the goats are milked and in the caramel production room you'll learn how Fat Toad Farm's unique and delicious sofi Award Winning farmstead goat's milk caramel sauce is made.
