Summer Market

  • Brookfield Old Town Hall 32 Stone Rd Brookfield, VT 05036 United States

"Consider the Tomato" is the theme for this year's Summer Market. So please join us for an afternoon of tomato shopping, eating and learning. Of course, there is an abundance of other produce for your enjoyment as well!

At this mid-summer market, stock your kitchen with fresh produce, pasture-raised meats (bring your cooler!), pickles, jams, jellies and of course quality sweets including caramel, honey and maple syrup and pick up other great local products such as beeswax candles, soap, and medicinal herbs. Grab lunch, a quick snack and even a cool and delicious Ice Cream Sundae from Fat Toad Farm, winners of the 2015 sofi Award for best product line, while you shop!

Shoppers are invited to stop in to peruse the Old Town Hall Silent Auction to bid on tempting local crafts, gift certificates and seasonal gifts, many of which have been donated by members of the Cooperative. All proceeds from the raffle and silent auction will support the renovation of Brookfield's Old Town Hall. While you're there, check out the Brookfield Library Book Sale.

In addition to providing quality local food, the Floating Bridge Food and Farms Cooperative is committed to engaging people in farm-based, food centered educational opportunities. Learning events at the market will include:

  • 1pm - Honey tasting from around the world with  Brookfield Bees.  As a special treat for all, come and see the bees hard at work in their "Observation Bee Hive"
  • 2pm - Learn about all things Heirloom tomato! including how to make fresh, homemade Bloody Mary Mix with the Green Mountain Girls Farm

Ariel's Cantina will be open for lunch from 11:30am - 2:00pm, just down the road from the market.  Ariel’s sources much of the food for the Cantina from farms within 10 miles of the Floating Bridge, talk about a local meal! More about the Ariel's Restaurant & Cantina on their Facebook page.
