Local, seasonal fresh farm produce, pasture-raised meats and poultry, cider, caramel, honey, maple syrup, herbal teas, flowers, pickles, canned items, beeswax candles, soap and much more will be on offer at this festive, seasonal market.
Come for lunch or snack to fuel your shopping, as delicious farm-fresh, ready-to-eat items will be available including your last chance this season to taste some of the delicious Mexican Cantina food, prepared by Chef Lee Duberman of Ariel's Restaurant and served at the market.
Columbus Day weekend is the best time for the ultimate Vermont Fall experience. Crisp clear days, beautiful foliage and… the Floating Bridge Food and Farms Harvest Market, Apple Picking and Pie contest. Join members of the Floating Bridge Food and Farms Cooperative for a Harvest focused afternoon of learning, eating, and shopping inside Brookfield’s Old Town Hall. You can also enjoy some apple picking at Liberty Orchard from 10am to 5pm.
In addition to providing quality local food, the Floating Bridge Food and Farms Cooperative is committed to engaging people in farm-based, food centered educational opportunities. Demonstrations at the market will include a Cider Pressing Demo by Brookfield Bees at 1:45pm.
Judging for the Apple Pie Contest will commence at 12:30pm; please drop off your pie before 11:45am (see below for details). Prizes will be awarded courtesy of King Arthur Flour and the remaining pie will be sold by the slice. Proceeds will benefit FBFFC and Randolph Area Food Shelf.
As well as the Harvest Market, Coop members offer unique opportunities to enjoy the splendor and awe of seasonal change framed by the intimacy of family farms and businesses. Pie Contest Details:
- Pies must be brought to the Old Town Hall before 11:45am on Sunday October 11.
- Anyone can enter: Adult class, ages 16 and up, Kids 15 and under.
- Any kind of apple pie is permissible as long as it contains apples and a crust of some kind.
- Pies must be accompanied by a card listing ingredients.
- Each pie must have the name and phone # of the baker on the bottom of the pie tin.
- Tins must be disposable, as we can't guarantee they will be returned.
- We encourage bakers to use King Arthur Flour and local Liberty Orchard apples.
Judging will commence at 12:30pm and prizes will be awarded after judging is complete. After prizes are awarded, slices of pie will be sold to the public for $3.00 per slice. Proceeds to go to the FBFFC and the Randolph Area Food Shelf.
