The Northeast Organic Farming Association of Vermont (NOFA-VT), as part of Agricultural Literacy Week, is sponsoring a farmer’s market at the Chandler center for the Arts. Floating Bridge Food & Farms Cooperative will be hosting several Slice of Life workshops during the market, to tickle your tastebuds!
Know Your Farmer, Know Your Pizza demonstration at 3:30pm & 5:30pm.
Just about everyone loves pizza! Bread, cheese and toppings - what's not to like? Spend a few minutes with Field Stone Farm learning how they incorporate what "grows on the farm" into imaginable and delightful pizza's that also focus on the seasons. Spinach is great on pizza but how about winter squash? Kale? Vermont Cranberry Beans? Try some samples and free your imagination and your taste buds!
Pairing Pickles demonstration – 4:30 pm
Pickles can be more than just an appetizer or a sandwich side. Get ideas on how to incorporate local pickled veggies into your festive holiday meals and daily dinners. And when the pickles are done, you still have the brine – ideas for using brines for flavoring soups, stocks and sauces. Samples included
Farm Fresh Drinks – 6:30 pm
Another way to enjoy farm fresh food is in what you drink! Join Green Mountain Girls Farm to learn about fun ways to incorporate local fruits and veggies into your beverages from Black Currant Spritzers & Maple Sodas to Localvore Bloody Mary’s and a range of fun options in between. Get inspiration, how tos and some samples.
There will also be a photo exhibit by Ben DeFlovio, “Home Grown in Central Vermont” that celebrates the area’s organic farmers and their produce. At 7:30, Run Boy Run, a celebrated bluegrass band will perfom at the Chandler. The Farmers Market will be open 3-7:30 pm and at intermission of the concert. More Details at NOFA-VT.org
