Cider Pressing and Boiling

DSCN3569.JPG

Brookfield Bees is planning an apple cider pressing Open House on Sunday October 8th from 11-3pm, 1148 Kibbee Rd in Brookfield. We will be pressing apples we have collected in the Kibbee Rd neighborhood that have had 7-10 days to develop full sugar and flavor. As you can see in the picture, the apples are under guard in a secure location. The combined flavors of the many different apple varieties produces an excellent and unique taste. We will also be boiling cider to make an apple syrup that is great as a glaze for meat, for salad dressings, marinades, as a table syrup, and anything else you can think of. In addition to the cider, our honey, maple syrup, beeswax candles and soap products will also be available for purchase. Call 802 2763808 for directions or more information or email sputtydog@hotmail.com

Maple Sugar Open House March 25th and 26th at Brookfield Bees

Brookfield Bees is part of the Vermont Maple Sugar Makers Association Open House tour this year.  We will be open on Saturday March 25 and Sunday March 26 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM for visitors who want to check out how maple syrup is made.  We collect from both buckets and tubing and boil on a wood fired arch.  There is no vacuum, no automatic drawoff and no RO.  Just good old fashioned Vermont maple syrup.  You can also stop at the Fat Toad Farm store just up the road to pick up some of its award-winning caramel.  Snacks and hot mulled cider are complimentary for visitors who make it.

If you come, make sure your car has at least all wheel drive, as our roads get pretty muddy. From Exit 4 of I-89 follow Rt 66 East for about a mile. Turn left onto Ridge Road. Go 1.3 miles to N. Randolph Road and turn right. Go 1.8 miles to Curtis Road and turn left. Go 1 mile to Kibbee Road and turn Right. Go 1.1 miles and look for Brookfield Bees sign. We are on a dirt road, so 4 wheel or all wheel drive is a necessity.
